ABOUT

Background

The Lyric Art Center began with a dream and a benefactor. Bill Bradley purchased a large building in downtown Eastland, Texas, in 2004-2005. The property once housed a movie theater, The Lyric, in the 1930s. Bradley envisioned the building returning to a theater, but now as an arts center and community performance space.

THE CENTER IS FOUNDED

The Lyric Art Center became a nonprofit organization with the mission to foster and promote visual and performance art. The same year, the Lyric Theater was donated by Bill Bradley to the Lyric Art Center.

2008

Through the generosity of community members, funds were raised for repairs to the building, including the roof and windows.

City of Eastland received a Texas Midwest Community Network award. The City donated the awarded money to The Lyric which went towards renovating the building's street facing facade. Barrett Webb, an architect, donated design plans for the facade and demolition began in April 2009.
